It's 2006!! That means we've only got a year and a half before we get to leave Timothy forever!! Kind of exciting, isn't it? But yet sad in a way.

Anyway, I said I'd tell you about the rest of my Christmas. So, my mom's family's Christmas party was at my Uncle Brian and Aunt Michelle's house, which we've never done before. Their dogs are crazy!! So...

My Aunt Linda gave me a Horse Calender (which still needs to be hung up), a horse pillow, and the Sisterhood OTTP DVD, which I left at their house:,(

From my Aunt Julie in California, all of the girl cousins got a cool present. You open up an oyster and pull out the pearl from inside. Then you put it in this sort of mini "cage" and onto a necklace. It's really pretty!

From my Uncle Brian, we all got gift cards to Target for $1. At least that's what he wrote! We all thought we were being scammed! My Aunt told my mom later that they were really for $10. (He's kind of a prankster.)

Then at my dad's family's Christmas party, I got a horse pin, modeled off of one DaVinci or someone made, and an ornament.

Also over break, I stayed at my Aunt Linda's house where I got to see their new kitten Roxy, who's adorable! I don't think I'm allergic to her either. I also went ice skating with Becca. Then I spent New Year's with Val at her cottage since it's litterally right around the corner from my grandma's. I had I really great Christmas and hope you all did too!!

PS: I thought I lost my good violin forever!! Then today at school I found that I never even took it home for break!!

PPS: I'm gonna get my mice for real!! My mom said that if I'm good for a week or two (real hard, huh), she'd take me to the store. I think the fact that I have all the money for them helps. ;)

So far, this Christmas has been awesome! This morning we opened up our stockings. I *got an orange, some cat socks, a new pink and red reversible ribbon belt, one of those things where you put it in the water and it gets big (a horse, of course!), and some candies from England. Very yummy! We also got to open one present each. I got a new pink coat with faux fur trim on the hood. Olivia also got a pink coat and Abby got a brown down vest.

Then we went to church. It was really good, but I was so tired!

Just now, we opened presents. I got a pink cable sweater, pink stripy shirt, pink scarf (to match my new coat), and pink pants. (The funny thing is – I asked my mom not to get me any more pink clothes. I have way too many!!!!) Now for the best parts: we got an HP6 book from England!! It’s smaller and more portable. I also got a new bow for my violin! Pernambuco if that means anything to you. Now, dun dun dun DUN!: a PS2! We were in shock when we opened it up. We just started screaming! There’s also DDR and the mat to go with it. My dad and Abby are setting it up right now. So, guess I’ll have to have a DDR party or something…

This was just our immediate family party. Tomorrow, we’ll go up to MI for our other family parties. I’ll talk about them when I get back. I’d love to hear about all of your Christmas’s so e-mail me any time!!

Alright, as most of you know, I'm going to San Francisco tomorrow so I'm going to be really busy the rest of the day. But, I wanted to put in here the best part of my day which happened (ironically) in 6th hour Algebra.

Snoeyink: OK guys, we're doing word problems today!
Class: (moans) Why do we have to learn these? (moans)
Snoeyink: So we can apply them to our lives! OK, page 210 number 1. Phoebe Small is out Sunday driving in her space ship.

I might have told some of you, I have the choice to to two very fun things this weekend. Either stay home and do a scavenger hunt at the zoo with youth group, have the special Christmas youth group on Sunday, and play with orchestra at yorktown,... or go to San Francisco with my dad. I know, for some of you, you'd be like, "Uh, San Francisco! Hello!"

So, after a whole bunch of thinking, I've decided to go with my dad. I really hope we'll have a lot of fun. It seems like at night, I really want to stay home this weekend. But in the daytime, I want to go to CA!! I've told my dad I'm going, but in my head, I kind of want to stay home:,(

Now, I'm almost, almost, almost finished with all of my HP scarves! I'm done with mine and have worn it all over. My slytherin one needs fringe on one side and my gryffindor one needs a little help, but I plan to finish this week. I'll post pictures of them soon! For now, here's some of us a couple weeks ago in the leaves.

I saw my best YVC friend at the zoo today! I was so excited! I was reading story to a few kids on a blanket on the floor and I looked up and there she was. It was a very nice surprise. I got to go see the baby dolphin at the zoo today. She's so tiny! Look at the picture I put in above.

I also saw Harry Potter! No, I didn't read a story to him, I mean the movie. It was FANTASTIC!! The first half wasn't great. It kind of rushed. But the second half was awesome. I felt like I was actually there in the movie experiencing what the characters did. I cried when _____ died. (I'm not revealing who if you haven't read the book yet. It really hit me when his/her dad yelled, " That's my son/daughter!" I almost cried when Moody was torturing the spider in front of Neville. I didn't understand when I read the book the first time but I get it now. Overall, it's the best Harry Potter movie of all (at least, for now...!). You guys have to go see it!

I'm Back

Wow, a lot's happened since I posted last!

The play was awesome, and the cast party was so much fun! The Hegel's have a really pretty house. We walked into their basement and it just kept going and going.

Harry Potter comes out tomorrow and I'm so excited!!! I wore my scarf to school today. It was really warm. Can you guys believe the weather outside? It's like 15 frickin' degrees!!! with a wind chill of about 2!! aaand SNOW!!!!

Now, our house is finally under construction. They started by digging out our deck, and then putting up concrete walls inside that hole for the crawl space, and to hold up the new walls above it. Yesterday, THEY TORE THE ROOF OFF! It's only above the attic, though, but we're still pretty cold. There's also an opening in the office through the wall to outside and even though it's covered up, there's still cold air coming through. Today I came home from school and it sounded like our house was haunted! There were all these guys on our roof walking around and banging and hammering. It was really loud! Fortunately, my room is the quietest and warmest. Wow, I never thought a basement room could be soooo nice!

Today was a bad day. 1st, my zipper broke on my party dress right before I was going to go on stage. Then the elastic came off my shoe, of course, right before I was going on stage. Then I had to wait a half hour for my mom to pick me up from school because someone else forgot about me. Now she won't take me to walmart. She has told me every day for two weeks that she'd take me. Just a half hour ago she told me she was waiting for me to finish my homework!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She never even told me something like, "If you do your homework I'll take you," or anything like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She just makes up stupid excuses like 'I've been so busy these last few days' or 'my back hurts' or 'my leg hurts' <-- my personal favorite fake excuse. Any time she doesn't want to do something for us or take us somewhere, her leg just happens to hurt again. Magic, or coincidence?

Play Update

OK, so I didn't have to wear makeup after all! I was so happy because I would be impossible to but on my wimple (white nun hat thing that goes around my face and head) without getting makeup on it. But, good things that have come out of this play are that I got this cute brown shirt for my part as a contestant in the singing contest, aaand I also got cool black ballet shoes that are so fun to wear! Also, I got to learn how to waltz and do the Laendler (even if it isn't true to the movie!!).

I hope you all will come out to see it. We have performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, all at 7:30p.

JJ had to leave today:( . I was sad.

Not looking forward to my ortho tomorrow...

Yes, I know it's really the 1st day of November (not October 31), but I fell asleep much earlier than I would have liked last night. I really don't know what I was thinking. I hadn't done any homework! I think it was because I was cleaning my room and the last thing I did was make my bed, and then I just climbed in. I don't even remember getting into bed! We even had a guest over and I didn't say goodbye! She must think I'm really rude. So... I woke up a little after 5 this morning. I'm really screwed up by the time change. Then I ate breakfast, started studying for spanish, took a shower, and let the dog out. Now I'm here. We have our last dress rehearsal for the Sound of Music today. This time we have to wear the gross makeup, though. I hate that stuff!

OK, so I think this year's Halloween was the worst ever. We had play practice after school yesterday till 7:15! By then, Liv was already in her PJ's and was all done trick-or-treating. I felt really bad I couldn't take her:( . She IS giving me the candy she doesn't like so that's good! I just don't know why she doesn't like 3 Musketeers. More for me!

Boo Hoo

Yes, I know I said I'd post two days ago whether I'd gotten my license or not. Well, not. I asked my dad when he came home Thursday and he said sure, this weekend. Well, Friday rolled along and before we knew it, it was 8 o'clock pm and he was just like "oh, I forgot (yeah right). I'll take you first thing tomorrow morning." So then I got really excited. I woke up early and got ready. My dad said he had a few things to do. Finally he told me, "Emily, let's wait till we get back from the trip till you get it." He acts like it's just a new pair of shoes or a couple of new folders from the store: just another thing to do on his list.

So, this trip that my parents are going on... they're going to New York again without us. I've told my mom that she has to go visit a few places for me and or a couple things to buy. I just wish I could actually go this time.

Again about the scarf (I know this might be getting boring but look at my username... IT'S WHY I MADE THIS THING! ;) ). I've changed my mind about my scarves. I'm almost to my 10th stripe. I have 4 more to do!! That leaves plenty of time to work on my last one. With 24 more days left, I think I can do it!

Scarf Update

Alrighty, I don't know if I put this on here yet but all I have to do to my Gryffindore scarf is sew up the gross side and put fringe on the end. Cool huh?! Also, I just finished my 6th stripe on my Ravenclaw scarf (7 more to go)! I'm so excited. I'm trying to get as much done as possible over this long weekend. That way, I don't have as much to work on during the school week.

We went to the new Ikea in Bolingbrook todaywith Danielle Muhlena (I think she's sleeping over now). It only has 2 floors, but my mom told me that they've renovated the other one at least twice to make it bigger. Plus this new one is way closer. It took us under 15 minutes to get to! I got my recycling bucket for my room there, along with my new CD rack and alarm clock. The alarm clock doesn't use batteries, you just wind it up like in the "old days" ! I was so excited! It's kind of slow, but I just put it a couple of minutes ahead and it's OK.

I know I already told most of you but I'm going to try to get my license tomorrow! I'm really bad at parking so I'm kind of freaking out. I think I'll only have to park along the curb though so it might be OK. I'll post tomorrow whether we actually go or not.

Yes, I know it's been over 10 days since my last post, but here I am. Anyway, our neighbor just gave us four more movies, including Kingdom of Heaven and Batman begins. I finished my 5th stripe on my Ravenclaw scarf. I now know for sure that I won't be able to do a third scarf. I feel really bad about it, but both my friends don't know that they'll be getting scarves, so It's kind of OK anyway. Our church's Harvest Party at Danada was really fun. I got a booklet thing about lessons. They're $255 for 6 weeks. I'm willing to pay for them too. I've got a jar of money that I've been saving. There's not that much in there (cuz people keep stealing from it) but it's something! NEway, gotta read that history thing now!!

Scarf Update

Alright so... I finally finished my Gryffindor scarf!!!!!!! I was so proud of myself. So I pulled it out of the washing machine so I could block it (pulling the fabric until it's the same width) and guess what! Remember how I explained two months ago how I fixed it? Well guess what - it came undone in the wash!!! So rather than just work with it while it was still mostly sewn together I untied it. Bad choice. Now I'm doing a bad job of fixing it. Fortunately that's almost done. All I have to do tomorrow is sew the two flappy things together and add fringe! I already started my Ravenclaw one, and my sock(s) is/are coming along great! I'm making it a knee sock. I'm almost finished with the leg part. Soon I can move on to the foot part (the hard part!). G'night!

Octoberfeast was so much fun!! I loved the "quiet" mouse behind me!! Saturday my parents weren't home so my sisters and I didn't fight at all. Olivia lied to me three times so I had to put her in time out. Other than that we were fine. Plus JJ was here. She needs a bath/haircut so bad! Olivia had a soccer game yesterday and I brought JJ with. There was a flock of little kids that wanted to pet her. I don't think she liked all of the hands on her at once and she started to nip them! She didn't hurt them though. Maybe it was just a warning. Oh well! I have to finish my homework so that I can go to youth group tonight. See y'all tomorrow!

Yucky day

As you guys know, I stayed home sick today. I had a terrible runny nose, cough, and sore throat, as well as a stomach ache that goes on and off. Yes, I know that I said 'goes' instead of 'went' because I've had this for the past couple of days.

Well, yesterday was Liv's 7th birthday and today she got her ears pierced! She was too afraid at first and made two of her friends go before her, but she did it in the end. I got these cool peacock feather earrings. My mom was like "well, you know what they have to do to make those" and I was like "mom, they don't have to chop their tails of to get these! they shed them!" I'm just hoping they don't have mites on them!!

I found out this week that my scarves don't actually need 17 rounds of stripes: they only need 13! I was so excited about that and I'll probably be finished with the first scarf this weekend. That's my goal. I found a cute pattern for a dog sweater. Again, I can't start it until the scarves are done, but I can't wait!

I'm so excited for tomorrow! Youth group starts and sunday school starts. In sunday school this year and next year, we get to learn about other religions and go to different services like jewish, catholic, islam, and others. Hope you had a good weekend!

"Weekend Update" with Me!

Hooray! I'm finally half-way done with my scarf! That means I have a total of 323 rows or 21,318 stitches left! No-o-o-o-o-o-o!!!! So I figure if I can get the big maroon portion with the two little yellow stripes done each day (does that make sense?) then it will only take me about 9 more days! Cool! Then I will definitely have both scarves done! (Maybe even another...) I have until November 18 (67 days, 6 hours, 40 minutes, 18 seconds) so if I actually kept up my goal, I could finish 3 more scarves plus my own! Wow! Ok, enough with that.

As many of you know, Darrell Stremler passed away Saturday morning. These past two days have been very hard for our family. I really thought that God would heal him. With all of the prayer that everyone has been doing all over the US, I thought something would happen. But now, I guess that he's got a perfect body and we should all feel happy for him. We still need to pray for Judy and the kids now so please remember to do that.

I have to go finish my homework and make dinner now because my mom and dad are at Bible Study and Abby's at youth group. I know I could have ended this thing better but I'm not sure how to. See (most of) you guys tomorrow!

Project Update

OK so now for the knitting part of my blog again. So I recently finished the 7th round of stripes on my Gryffindor scarf and will start the 8th round tomorrow for sure. I'm also working on a pretty green and blue scarf that I'm giving my mom (she doesn't know that yet!) and I'm learning how to make socks! The pattern called for 4 needles but I really need 5! So now I'm stuck until we go to Hobby Lobby and get more. I'm also crocheting a chevron blanket for my bed. It has blue, creamy white, yellow, pink, and green in it and it's really pretty! I'm about 1/2 to 2/3 done and have been working on it since last year (I think). Unfortunately I can't work on it again until I'm finished with my Gryffindor and Ravenclaw scarves!

I just finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It is the best book I have ever read. I almost cried! For those of you reading this that haven't read it yet (yes you Berka) YOU HAVE TO!! I don't care if you already know what happens or even if you haven't read or seen any of the books or movies. It is an awesome book!

Anyway, I got back from Berka's house about 45 minutes ago from doing our group's dialog and had an awesome time. Especially losing the "green" car in the parking garage. (Ask us on Monday.) Oh, and by the way, Junior year is the hardest year ever! I can hardly take the homework and we've only been in school a little over a week! I don't even want to start thinking about what midterms will be like... :( !

Hooray for School!

I am so happy to be back at school! You would think that summer is all about freedom and doing whatever, whenever(!). No. Not with parents home. That's why I like school. I get to spend a whole 6 hours and 40 minutes away from my mom!!!!!! No rules!!! (or at least fewer/different ones that I don't mind complying to).

I was so happy to find out today that I made our school musical: The Sound of Music. Val and I are both partygoers. Hopefully we get to wear big fancy dresses (though knowing our cheep Dutch school, it's very unlikely)!

Anyway I am proud to say that I have finished 5 of the yellow stripes on my scarf and the next thing I have to do is tie on the yellow yarn to start the 6th round of yellow stripes. I'm really starting to freak out and wonder whether I'm actually going to finish it and my ravenclaw one by November 18!! There are currently 77 days, 4 hours, 4 minutes and 45 seconds until it comes out!!! And I will definitely be seeing it at midnight!!! I guess I'll just have to buy tickets in advance! Oh well. Hope this is a good enough update. I'll try to update it more regularly.

Big Mistake!

I found out last week that my scarf that I'm making is not the 8" wide it's supposed to be. It's closer to 11", even though I followed the instructions exactly. So I freaked out and started wondering how long it would take me to make such a huge scarf! Besides, no one would wear a scarf that wide! It would look rediculous! So I fixed it. It would be too hard to describe in words so I'll hopefully have a picture (or maybe an illustration by mwah) in here soon to show you guys.

Last night I took the Sorting Hat Quiz. You know, the one that lets you know which house you would be sorted into if you actually went to Hogwarts. It said I was a squib!! I was so mad! But, it gave me the percentages of how I scored and of the four houses, I was highest in Ravenclaw! Cool, the house I wanted to get into! So, after I finish my Gryffindore scarf, I'll start to work on a Ravenclaw one.

I finally have a blog! It took forever to get but finally. Well, right now I'm working on my first Harry Potter Scarf. It's like the one Hermione wears in the third movie. (You can see it when they're in Hogsmeade by the Shrieking Shack.) I plan on making many more scarves like it so just put in a request and I'll get back to you soon. Ask me at school or in an e-mail.
